This is day 3 as part of 5 day image challenge on FineArtAmerica hosted by Donna Milbus.

I am basing this 5 day beach challenge mostly on what I remember about my trips to Southern Italy as a little girl with my Nana. Our family is from the areas of Agropoli, Naples, Pompei, Paestum, Ogliastro, Cilento, and Milan. One of my Nana's sisters moved to Milan, the rest remained in the mountain village of Finochito running the family farm. My Nana was the only one to come here in an arranged marriage.

There is a statue of Poseidon in Agropoli. I wanted to portray Amphitrite waiting for the love of her life to return to her from his journey in the sea. She waits with anticipation for her love. I have an affinity for beautiful, white flowing dresses. I've seen many portray her in the nude or as a siren and nymph. My version is a bit different...It is how I envision her. She may look innocent, but the literature portrays her as otherwise, sometimes...
